The man behind The Liquidator joins the Obits list:
I didn't realise the football connection - Chelsea etc - until now.
Officially, that's number 17 on our Obituaries list and there's still 7 weeks to go until our next Headbang on 14th June. Realistically, however, there's only a couple of them that are genuine Rock Headbangers material, deserving of a fairly fulsome tribute, with the rest only getting a brief passing mention under the banner of "They also served". This will help leave more time for the other themes.
I've been working on the logistics for Andy's suggested "Rock Champions League Knock-out" theme at the next Headbang. I had previously picked 4 Rock Giants (who were all seeded), plus 8 other mainline rock acts who would play a preliminary round knock-out, with the winners meeting the Giants in the 1st round proper. We even held the draw for this on the night of the last Headbang, but, regrettably, I've now had to change 5 of the previously chosen acts as, frankly, I didn't have enough decent quality video material for them. The 5 who have had to drop out are:
- U2
- AC/DC
- Pink Floyd
- Jimi Hendrix
- Bruce Springsteen
They have now been replaced by (in order):
- Small Faces
- Cream
- Neil Young
- Dr. Feelgood
- Radiohead
Accordingly, the full draw now reads:
- Led Zeppelin v. David Bowie (winners to play The Beatles)
- Small Faces v. Cream (Rolling Stones in next round)
- Neil Young. v. The Who (Bob Dylan)
- Dr. Feelgood v. Radiohead (Elvis Presley)
Each artiste(s) has 12 pre-selected tracks from my video library and I've sorted these into "home" and "away" tracks. The ties are 2-legged affairs and the tracks to be played in each leg are selected by a roll of the dice on the night. Once a track is played it cannot be played again in a subsequent round.
Scores for each leg will be decided by a show of hands on the night. The idea is not just to vote for your favourite artistes all the time but to base it on the relative overall merits of the videos played. Should there be a tie on aggregate, there will be a one track play-off/shoot-out with the track selected again by a roll of the dice.
Clear as mud?
