Jo and I spent last weekend in London. The principal reason for going was to see Graham Parker & the Rumour play at the Shepherd's Bush Empire. We had missed the main gigs from their reunion tour last year as I was on a golfing holiday, but we had managed to catch up with him playing a solo gig in Belfast in October, but this was the first time I had seen the full band in action since a 1979 gig at the Roundhouse, Chalk Farm.
Good venue - and a great turnout of GP aficionados. The support act was Glenn Tilbrook:
Entertaining as usual, he opened with Take Me I'm Yours - there's a video of it on my You Tube channel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbMaChj4eXo&list=UUBDeleoM99bWx2-P6rMydgA
Then the main man:
They included in their set the title track from their first album from 1976 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p-GTv-qk84&list=UUBDeleoM99bWx2-P6rMydgA
They got an amazing response from the crowd and had to play 4 encores!
On Sunday, we were walking through the West End, heading towards the Grosvenor Square area and I spotted these two adjacent houses, both with blue plaques:
A closer look revealed the one on the left to be none other than:
and his near neighbour? None other than:
