Noted also that Tony Barrow, the Beatles' former Press Officer, who coined the
Fab Four phrase, also passed. Other observations on those above included:
- Emile Ford's most famous song was "What do you want to make those eyes at me for?"
- Jock Scot was "Supplier of good vibes to Ian Dury/Shane McGowan/Billy Bragg/Viv Stanshall, amongst others"
- Jimmy Powell played harmonica on PJ Proby's Hold Me and Rod Stewart was once a vocalist in his band The Dimensions.
- Henry McCullough's voice is immortalised on Dark Side of the Moon - "I don't know; I was really drunk at the time".
- "Sir" Mack Rice wrote Mustang Sally, and the royalties are still pouring in. He also penned the Staples Singers' Respect Yourself, amongst others.
- Lisa Gaye famously jived her way through the first big rock and roll movie Rock around the Clock and sang and danced in Shake, rattle and rock.
- Marianne Stang Ihlen was Leonard Cohen's muse and he wrote So Long Marianne, Bird on the Wire and Famous Blue Raincoat in her honour.
Who was the most missed out of that lot? There are a few notable careers but Prince got the vote in the end.
