8th Virtual Headbang - 26th February, 2021

A nice round dozen, including debutant Rob Griffiths, made it along last night and thankfully there seemed to be very few technical glitches. Maybe we're getting the hang of this now? The team photo was taken halfway through the evening:
Starting as usual with the 'GENARIANS theme, we played 4 tracks and then voted on them:
There were another 3 who had reached 70 since our last get-together but they were not deemed worthy enough to get a track played:
There was a total of 10 recent Octogenarians, of whom 9 featured musically and were voted on as follows:
(The one other recent 80 year old was Brian Holland of Holland-Dozier-Holland fame) The vote to choose between the leading Septuagenarian (Norman Watt-Roy) and Michael Chapman was won by the latter after watching his dazzling guitar work. Next theme was OBITUARIES. Phil Spector was heavily featured with a few medleys of some of his finest work. The tracks played and the voting went as follows:
The other (non-featured) recent Obituaries were:
For the next theme, I plundered the German TV show BEAT CLUB's You Tube channnel for half a dozen clips from 1970 and the Headbangers voted for their first and second choices, producing the following weighted results:
Time now for the HEADBANGERS' JUKEBOX (2). All bar Rob G had picked a track they would like to see - one that perhaps hadn't been seen before or hadn't been seen for a while. There were 11 selections but the Zoom polling facility only allowed 10, so my track wasn't voted on. This time votes were for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, producing the following weighted overall scores:
Theme number 5 was AUSTIN CITY LIMITS. Seven tracks and 2 votes each:
The last theme came from the BBC's SIGHT AND SOUND IN CONCERT series of the late '70's. Eight tracks and 3 votes each and the results were:
We finished not long after midnight, having featured 56 acts, 18 of whom had never featured at a previous Headbang, and only 4 of the videos shown had previously been screened.
