I think it's the first time we've had a tie for first place - and certainly one of the very few - if ever - times when the OBITUARIES theme came out on top.
I often mention our “broad church” and this was again the case here with three of the themes attracting both top and bottom votes - Name Dropping, Kennedy Center Honors and Octogenarians (1). In fact, there was a wide range of votes on all of themes.
20 tracks were nominated in the Top 3 selections, resulting in:
A clear win for Pink Floyd with 5 of the 11 voters nominating them in their top 3. It was the usual diverse selection with 12 of the 20 tracks nominated by just one Headbanger.
The nominations featured performances from all 7 decades from the 1960's to the 2020's and all 9 themes had at least one nomination.
Other notable anomalies included the poll winner on the evening in Octogenarians (1) - 10 cc - not subsequently receiving any nominations in anyone's Top 3 tracks. Likewise, 2 of the 3 (equal) winning tracks in the Jukebox were not mentioned either.
Finally, just to confirm the date of the next Headbang is 20th November.
