Music weekend in London (2)

From http://banchoryheadbangers.blogspot.com/

The British Music Experience (http://www.britishmusicexperience.com/at the O2 was interesting - interactive exhibits included playing different instruments with headphones on - good fun.

The main event planned for the day was the gig at Hammersmith Apollo, where Ronnie Wood & Friends were playing a tribute to Chess Records as part of Bluesfest 2012. This brought 3 Rolling Stones together on stage - Ronnie, of course, plus Bill Wyman and a very overweight looking Mick Taylor. Ronnie warmed up the crowd with a few classic Chess riffs - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loxij0VoRoQ&list=UUBDeleoM99bWx2-P6rMydgA&index=3&feature=plcp

There was a female singer who we didn't recognise and have never since managed to find out who she was - Ronnie's introductions were often a bit shambolic - but Hamish Stuart from AWB was unmistakable:

Here's Ronnie & Mick with aforesaid anonymous singer - can you identify her from this distant shot?:

Bill Wyman then stepped forward and sang Chuck Berry's You Never Can Tell - watch it here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjMTaZiPK8w&list=UUBDeleoM99bWx2-P6rMydgA&index=1&feature=plcp

After that, Beverley Skeete performed At Last, as made famous by Etta James - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwg_w-qJwQY&list=UUBDeleoM99bWx2-P6rMydgA&index=1&feature=plcp

The guest artistes kept on coming - Sharleen Spiteri then Macca's son, James. The ensemble finished with a (non-Chess) version of It's Only Rock 'n Roll:

On Sunday, Dave took Colin and I on a short drive to Henley where we stumbled upon Friar Park, George Harrison's pile, where he was attacked by an intruder a few years before his death. It's also where his then wife Patti "Layla" Boyd met up with Eric Clapton and there were allegedly some famous foursomes also involving Patti's sister, Jenny. Here's CK and I hanging out at the front gates:

Also in Henley, in what looks like a pauper's grave, apparently lies Dusty's remains:

A little sad really.
