One very short section commemorated 50 years since the Beatles' Please Please Me was first recorded in one amazing 12 hour session. The BBC had recently gathered together a variety of artistes to replicate this feat and, from this, I selected four video clips for viewing and this is how the voting worked out here:
1 | I am Kloot | Chains | 28 |
2 | Graham Coxon | Baby it's you | 24 |
3 | Beverley Knight | Twist and shout | 21 |
4 | Mick Hucknall | Anna (go to him) | 17 |
I Am Kloot are definitely a band to watch, however. They've been around for years but seem to be slowly garnering plaudits and a sound reputation. They have featured before at the Headbang (Armistice Day 2011) and it could be we'll see them again soon.
The final section was a bit of a shambles, because after the first 4 tracks we hit the witching hour and Grant's Taxis were off with half of our crew, so they didn't get to vote and viewing was a little disturbed for the rest of us, but we did at least manage to get some votes in, and the results were:
1 | Dr. Feelgood | Riot in Cell Block No. 9 | 1975 | 42 |
2 | Big Brother & the Holding Company | Ball and Chain | 1967 | 39 |
3 | Thin Lizzy | Jailbreak | 1976 | 39 |
4 | Animals | Inside looking out | 1966 | 30 |
5 | Bob Dylan | Cold Irons Bound | 2006 | 27 |
6 | Bobby Fuller Four | I fought the law | 1966 | 23 |
7 | Eric Clapton | I Shot the Sheriff | 1974 | 22 |
8 | Elvis Presley | Jailhouse Rock | 1957 | 21 |
9 | Steve Miller Band | Take the money and run | 2008 | 19 |
10 | Johnny Cash | Folsom Prison Blues | 1968 | 13 |
So that was it - another fun evening. All we need now is for everyone to cast their votes for their top 3 tracks of the evening. Gary's already done his. All the tracks are listed on the blog, so go there if you can't remember what was played.
