We voted on each via a show of hands, with the alternative titles coming out best on 7 occasions. David Bowie, T. Rex and Three Dog Night were given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to keep their original titles.
The clock was starting to run against us and there was only time for one more theme, meaning that Singing Drummers was dropped from the line-up for the 4th time in a row! The last theme therefore was Guess the Label? and these were the tracks we played and the labels most associated with each of the artistes:
Otis Redding | I can't turn you loose | Stax |
Procul Harum | Homburg | Regal Zonophone |
Deep Purple | Black Night | Harvest |
Jerry Lee Lewis | Chantilly Lace/Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On | Sun |
Buzzcocks | Ever Fallen in Love | Rough Trade |
Ian Dury & the Blockheads | Billericay Dickie | Stiff |
Special AKA | Free Nelson Mandela | 2-Tone |
Bo Diddley | Bo Diddley | Chess |
The screen backdrop is, believe it or not, the Grants doing handstands on Elie beach just before Christmas.
Voting for Top Themes and Tracks to follow.
