Graham Parker & Brinsley Schwarz

Andy, Colin and I went to the Lemon Tree last night to see Graham Parker, appearing with his long-time sidekick Brinsley Schwarz. I first saw Graham Parker (& The Rumour) in their heyday at The Roundhouse, Chalk Farm back in the late 70's, but he then moved to USA and kept a very low profile until a couple of years ago, when he decided there was life in the old dog yet and he got together with the band again, recorded a new album (Three Chords Good), appeared as themselves in a Judd Apatow film, This is 40 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Is_40) and started to tour Europe again.

As a fan who has every one of his albums from the early days and who helped to crowdfund the recent official release of his live Bootleg recordings, I had to go and see him - and last night was the 3rd time I'd been to one of his gigs in the last couple of years - firstly, playing solo acoustically in Belfast, then with the full Rumour in London, then last night as a duo with Brinsley.

This was them on stage:

I took a short video of the end of Hold Back the Night, his 1977 cover of The Trammps disco hit, which gave him his one brief brush with the charts - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEYKVugsvLo

After the gig, when Graham and Brinsley were moving their gear from the stage and loading up their car, I went over to shake his hand and asked Andy to take a photo. Unfortunately, the camera was on the wrong setting and so, instead of a photograph, I now have the briefest of video memories of the occasion - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUcIRsk9WYc
