Headbang History

Looking through my old records, I can see the dates and photographs for the last 29 Headbangs, going back to November, 2003. Prior to that, of course, there were many gatherings at Dave's former pad near Torphins, all of them purely audio.

The modern Headbang era began in 2005, when we began to feature some visuals, using DVD's. After that, we eventually moved on to digital mpeg's, avi files etc, but it was the end of 2008 before the regular Themes started. Obituaries were what started it all off and that has featured at all 19 Headbangs since December, 2008.

The Septuagenarians theme started in June, 2011 and has now been featured 12 times. Today's Birthdays appeared 5 times before being dropped after the October, 2012 Headbang. Prior to that we had 4 separate sessions of everyone's Favourites.

There are 5 other themes that have each appeared twice:

Amazingly, there have been another 52 themes that have each featured once (in alphabetical order):

For obvious reasons, I'm the only one that has been at all 29 recorded Headbangs since the end of 2003, but Colin has done well to only miss one in all that time. Dave was an ever-present until the end of 2012, when his travels took their toll, but he's still managed 24 appearances.

Gary's made 20 appearances, as has Andy, who only made his debut in 2008, but has only missed one Headbang since then. Other attendees have been:

Malcolm 17
Jeb 14
Gerry 12
IPM 12
Steve 8
James 5
Dylan 3
Phil 1
Gary has been our host on 5 occasions, and Jeb once, but it has been Dave who has been a very genial host every other time.
