Headbangers programme - 18 Aug 2017

At the time of writing, the likely line-up for next week's Headbang is:

  1. Obituaries. We currently have 23 notables who have passed since the last Headbang, 7 of whom will receive a passing mention only. Amongst the other 16, we have a few interesting characters, but whose musical contribution may have to be truncated a little. There are, however, a few musical heavyweights deserving of more than one track, so there could be as many as 21 tracks played here. Maximum of one hour budgeted for this theme.
  2. Septuagenarians. Astonishingly, we have 38 musicians who have passed the age of 70 since the last Headbang. I've had to edit this down to "just" 33, but I think - and hope - that everyone will enjoy this eclectic selection. This will, however, take up 2 hours of the evening.
  3. 50 Years Ago. 1967 was a very significant one musically and we're going to feature 4 major events that took place then, with a total of 10 tracks, which should take about half an hour.
  4. Glastonbury 2017. Our annual feature. 12 tracks to be played here from artistes old and new. This should take a little less than an hour.
  5. New Knight of the Realm. Having failed technically last time around to play the brief 2-song tribute to Sir Ray Davies, we'll have another go this time.
  6. New(ish) Artistes. Two of the artistes in this section who fell at the technical hurdle at the last gathering will get a second chance this time, and will be joined by another 4 tracks from other new(ish) acts. The total time for sections 5 & 6 should be about half an hour.
Allowing time for voting, rehydrating and some discussions/debates, that lot should take us up to the usual closing time. If, by any chance we have some spare time, we can use it for another Reprise section.
