We are a group of rock music fans who meet three times a year to show rock music videos, played through a sound system and projected on to a screen. We also have a themed show on River Dee Radio (https://tunein.com/radio/River-Dee-Radio-s274232/) at 8 pm each night - tune in for some rock music history.

6th Virtual Headbang - 13th November, 2020
Good attendance at last night's virtual Headbang - almost a full house. Only Phil Bates, who had just got out of hospital earlier on that day, couldn't make it - we wish him a speedy recovery. Jeb was a late arrival due to a clash with a forgotten birthday party - he arrived on the scene just as Malcolm's internet signal let him down again (he reckons fibre will arrive at Rashenlochy next week). Aidan was present for the whole evening, except for the undernoted team photo when his i-Pad battery let him down:
We started as usual with the 'GENARIANS theme. Just 4 artistes featured and after playing the tracks we all completed the online poll and voted for who we would like to survive the longest - it was a close-run thing as you can see from the votes below:
Next was OBITUARIES - 9 musicians had passed recently, some of them receiving brief musical acknowledgments whilst longer medley tributes were played for Helen Reddy (who just missed the cut-off for the last Headbang) and Spencer Davis. As usual, the vote was for the "most missed" and the result was unanimous:
The 3rd theme of the evening was carried over from the last Headbang - PUB ROCK, paying tribute to the bands that emerged from the vibrant roots scene in London in the 1970's. This time, we each had 3 votes - for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places - and there was a runaway winner:
Next was a theme labelled SUITE THINGS - LIVE! featuring multi-part songs - kind of like mini operattas - a classic example of the genre would be Bohemian Rhapsody (although we wouldn't be playing that tune again this night). They are essentially studio creations, but the tracks we played were all efforts by each of the bands to perform them live and our job was to decide which three of them fared best. Voting here was very tight, with only Wings getting a thumbs down:
The penultimate section was a seasonal choice - SUPERNATURAL. 8 ghostly tracks were played and this time we each got 2 votes:
Time was marching on and, although we were still well short of the usual finishing time for "live" Headbangs, Rob was beginning to wilt and was thinking ahead to his two bowls matches on Saturday, so I randomly selected just 3 tracks to play from our final theme - ALL SAINTS - they are marked in red in the track listing below:
