Steve had gone early to Murrayfield but otherwise it was a full house of Headbangers on Friday night. Usual format - first the 'Genarians. Votes for the Septuagenarians were:
Slightly surprise win for Gary Rossington? Other Septuagenarians:
Then the Octogenarians:
Other Octogenarians:
No Nonogenarians but there was one Centenarian - although hardly Headbang suitable:
Theme two, as ever, was Obituaries and the votes here were:
Online polling on Zoom does not allow the host to vote, but when it comes to a tie - as it did above, I got to use a (manual) casting vote and I opted for Ronnie Spector as Most Missed.
Other Obituaries:
Theme number three was Saxophone Superstars - the second (consecutive) time this theme was used. Voting was two-fold - most enjoyable track and best sax performance - and the results were:
Pink Floyd again won the best track, but tied for best sax with Gerry Rafferty, and I opted for the latter with my casting vote.
Next the Jukebox. 12 tracks had been submitted but the voting changed a bit this time. Rather than have 4 mini quarter finals, 2 semis and a final, the 12 tracks were split in to two sections of six with the winner of each going in to the final:
Spot the grammatical error above. Calexico and Manic Street Preachers won each section and tied the final, so I had to cast my vote again and opted for Calexico.
Last theme of the evening was the Best of the Best. Periodically - every 10 times a winning track of the evening has been voted on - we replay the winners to see who comes out best, with the benefit of hindsight. This was the 4th time we've done this and the results were:
Yet again, we had a tie and I opted for Carlos Santana as the best of the last 10 winners.
That was about it - just time for a team photo:
