We had the highest ever number of absentees on Friday night - 5 in all - but the rest of us had a good time - 6 in person at Dave's and 2 (Phil & Rob D) via Zoom. We learned a bit from last October, the only other time we had tried to combine the physical with the virtual and I think things went well this time and the early finish was much appreciated by all.
Michael McDonald won that one. Now the Octogenarians:
Carole King clearly won that one, and, in the "play-off" between the Septs and Octs winners, Carole King came out on top. No Nonogenarians or Centenarians this time, so on to the Obits:
The first two above passed before the last Headbang but were missed from that event, so we played the tracks but didn't include them in the vote, which was won convincingly by Gary Brooker.
Madness was deemed the best visually but David Gray won the vote for best performance. Theme 4 was the Headbangers' Jukebox, with each of us having 3 votes:
Rob D's track was the clear winner, with mine next best, but a long way behind. Theme 5 was a special request from Rob G, who, unfortunately, couldn't make it this time. Rob had asked for some shorter tracks, so I sourced 10 tracks with all of them less than 2 minutes long:
The Stones were clear winners here, with Eddie Cochran in 2nd place. To finish off the evening, 4 quick tracks from the Cavern Club:
The Mona Lisa Twins were again a popular watch, but Adele's performance from 2011, just after the song had been released, was an outstanding winner. Just one last thing to do - the team photo:
Not quite - better luck next time!
