Headbang - 24 May 24 - tracks & votes

It was a case of missing in action at last night's Headbang. Those MIA and unable to attend were Phil (post-op), Rob G (cycle accident) and CK, aka the Curry King (tending to Johanne). Dialling in remotely were Rob D, Aidan, Malcolm and, later on, Colin. In attendance at Dave's were Gerry, Andy, Steve, Jeb, me and, of course, our generous host.

Technical difficulties? Yes, there were a couple, mostly with Teams which juddered its way through the evening, but we got through it OK and hopefully the slight delays early on didn't spoil anyone's fun.

We got through 5 of the 6 planned themes but ran out of time and weren't able to play Now and Then (4), which will be carried forward to the next gathering.

Voting was done on the evening. Here's the tracks and votes. First, Septuagenarians:

Captain Sensible won this one, courtesy of my casting vote. There were also other musical notables who had their 70th birthdays since our last Headbang in January:

The second theme was Body Parts:

Radiohead pipped Queen here. Appropriately, the Jags scored a blank!

Theme number three was Octogenarians +:

The Roger Daltrey medley edged it, ahead of Nick Mason. There was a whole bunch of other Octogenarians, Nonogenarians and even a Centenarian:

The 4th theme was Obituaries:

A clear win for Steve Harley, with Melanie in 2nd place. Other Obits were:

At this point, Andy produced a bottle of whisky and poured all those present a dram in recognition of Bob Dylan's 83rd birthday that day, so it was an appropriate time for the team photo:

(Colin is shadowed by Steve's head)

The 5th and final theme, as it turned out, was the Jukebox, for which there had been 8 nominations:

Rob G's nomination of Patty Gurdy playing the Hurdy-Gurdy won the vote here.
